Lost In The Bush

 Hatchet Novel Response

Name: Kobe

In class, I have been reading a book called Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. The story Hatchet is mostly about a thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson who is on his way to visit his father. When the single-engine plane in which he is flying crashes. Suddenly Brian finds himself in the Canadian wilderness with nothing but trees and a lake. Brian's mother gave him a hatchet as a present so he could use it. It was hard for Brian because his mother and father were divorced so he would have to go back and forth and Brian didn’t like going back and forth so he got tired of it.

I think the author's message is about no matter how hard it gets, never give up, just keep on pushing through. And that you can't always rely on other people just believe in yourself that you will be able to do anything. You can survive anything if it’s hard or not you just have to put in some effort and keep on trying you will get there.

Brian had changed he went from old Brian to new Brian the old Brian use to watch tv and get a nice delicious roast for dinner and also have a nice comfy bed to sleep in but the new Brian has to hunt to find him some food he even had to use the hatchet his mother gave him to make himself a fire for at night so he wouldn’t get cold and a shelter to sleep in. He didn't like the new Brian he wanted to be the old Brian and get to sleep in a cozy bed not on the grass with wood as his shelter and fish for his dinner every night.

Lastly, I think this book is amazing to read. It has lots of fascinating words that I would have never known about. I think that Gary Paulsen is a great author and he is good and imaginative.
